Watching this crowned crane looking intensely down for food on the ground made me remember of this very famous sculpture by Auguste Rodin: the Thinker. It also reminded me how my fellow students (and probably me too) looked like with their eyes lost in books while preparing for exams in the University library.
Beyond the obvious square crop and basic noise reduction and exposure optimisation, I have enhanced the bird details using Detail Extractor (Nik Efex Color filter), tweaked the eye a bit and I slightly introduced some blue cast on the dirt visible on the bird beak to make it less prominent. Finally a small touch of vibrancy to adjust the image mood as I didn’t like the cloudy light of the original image.
